The Chase Freedom^SM Visa credit card, issued by Chase, is designed for those who have good or excellent credit and who plan to take advantage of the cash rewards program. This card offers a 0% introductory rate on purchases and balance transfers. The length of the introductory period varies based on the individual's application and credit history. The APR for purchases is 0% for 6 months, and the APR for balance transfers is 0% for 12 months. Through the rewards program, cardholders earn 5% cash back in rotating categories such as gas, home improvement and department stores. Up to to 10% cash back - even up to 20% cash back at select merchants - can be earned when you shop online through Chase. Cardholders will also earn a 1% rebate for each $1 of net purchases. There are no spending tiers or earning caps, and cash rebates never expire. The Discover® Open Road(SM) Card, issued by Discover, is designed for those with very good credit who would like to earn cash rewards on gas and auto maintenance expenses. Through the reward program, cardholders earn a full 2% in cash rebates on your first $250 in combined gas and auto maintenance purchases each billing period and up to 1% for general purchases. There is no yearly limit on the amount of rebates that can be earned, and rebates do not expire as long as the account is active within a 36-month period. As an added bonus, cardholders can earn up to a double Cashback Bonus® when redeeming their rebates for gift certificates from participating Discover® Card Partners. In addition to the reward program, the card also provides several platinum benefits, including travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, and various fraud and security protection services. This card has an attractive 0% introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers for six months. The APR for this card is reasonable, although it is important to note that only higher qualifying applicants will receive the lowest rate available.
